Services:

Rates, editorial services, and selected recognitions

My current rate for freelance writing is $0.40 per word (40¢ per word). For freelance copyediting and line editing of completed novels and memoir manuscripts, my rate is $0.02 per word (2¢ per word). This includes line notes, general feedback, and specific guidance. I also edit short story collections, individual short stories, essays, poems, and articles—anything under the sun. My rate for ghostwriting is $0.66 per word (66¢ per word).

SHORT STORY & ESSAY CONSULTATION:

For a $150 flat rate (up to 5,000 words) — I provide comprehensive, hands-on feedback on a standalone short story or essay (or multiple pieces): in-line annotations, line edits, notes, and an editorial letter discussing each piece’s aims, outlook, and path to completion. Longer works are welcome; please inquire.

Please email me at matthewbdexter@gmail.com for availability and to discuss the minutiae of your project.
